6 Field Engineer Squadron was authorized on 18 February 1911 as the 6th Field Company Canadian Engineers located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. It operated as a training unit and provided support during WWI, WWII, and missions during the Korean conflict, Balkan conflict and the war in Afghanistan.

The Squadron is now 6 Engineer Squadron, a primary Reserve Canadian Military Engineer unit of the Canadian Forces (39 Canadian Brigade Group).

The 6 Engineer Squadron and 6 Field Engineer Squadron Museum are located at the Lt Col James Pemberton Fell Armoury, a designated heritage building. The Armoury is said to be haunted.
